About Plateau-sequoia
Dedicated to transforming how Canadians experience their personal book collections
Our Story
Plateau-sequoia was founded in 2014 by a group of bibliophiles who believed that personal book collections deserved the same thoughtful design consideration given to professional libraries and bookstores.
What started as a small consulting practice in Toronto has grown into a team of designers, organizers, and craftspeople serving readers across Canada. We have designed everything from compact apartment reading corners to sprawling estate libraries.
Our name reflects the grand, enduring nature of the sequoia tree—a symbol of the lasting value that books and reading bring to our lives.
Our Philosophy
We believe that how you store and display your books says something meaningful about who you are as a reader. A library should not merely contain books—it should celebrate them.
Every project begins with understanding the relationship between the reader and their collection. Are they a completist who organizes by author? A visual thinker who arranges by color and size? A researcher who needs quick access to reference materials?
These preferences shape our designs as much as architectural constraints do.
